Erwin-Penland Shines At 2009 ADDY Awards

March 04, 2009

GREENVILLE, S.C., – March 4, 2009 –
Erwin-Penland, one of the largest advertising and marketing firms in the Southeast and a division of Interpublic Group’s Hill, Holliday took home 44 ADDYs, a Judges’ Choice Award and the Mosaic Award at the 2009 Greenville ADDY Awards Saturday.

EP received awards for ten different clients including BI-LO, The Greenville Drive, Poplar Grove and Milliken, among others. The Mosaic Award, presented for excellence in multi-cultural marketing, was awarded for the “You Choose” campaign, which EP created as part of their pro bono work for the United Way of Greenville County. The campaign urged the community to “live united” and make a choice to support people in need living in Greenville County.

“The Talk,” TV ad created for the Greenville Humane Society, promoted the fundraiser Sips for Snips and raised awareness, through humor, of the need to spay or neuter pets. It earned a Judges’ Choice Award and a Gold ADDY in the public service category.

The print ad “Amen Corner” for BI-LO received a Gold ADDY for a full-page color print ad that ran in The Augusta (Ga.) Chronicle that coincided with the Masters Golf Tournament. The ad leveraged the reputation BI-LO has for superb fruits and vegetables by using green vegetables to replicate the layout of the famous 13th hole, the final hole of Amen Corner. Overall, EP earned 11 Gold ADDY Awards and 33 Silver awards -- 12 more total ADDYs than the nearest competing agency.

In addition to the creative awards, Allen Bosworth, Erwin-Penland’s Executive Vice President and a partner in the agency for more than 20 years, won the American Advertising Federation’s Silver Medal Award for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of the advertising industry and for his commitment to the community.

“We’re proud to have won so many awards and feel great that we did so for such a wide variety of clients. That doesn’t happen unless an agency has high standards across the board and gets support from all the disciplines within the agency. It also helps to have great clients," said EP Executive Creative Director Andy Mendelsohn.
