New York Veteran Karl Dunn Brings 22 Years of Experience with Top Brands, Agencies
GREENVILLE, S.C., March 19, 2007 Erwin-Penland, the Greenville, S.C., unit of Interpublic Group’s Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, significantly expanded its creative team by naming Karl Dunn, a 22-year veteran of the New York ad scene, as associate creative director. Dunn has worked with some of the most recognizable ad agencies in the business, including Young & Rubicam, Lintas and Warwick Baker O’Neill. He has worked on campaigns on behalf of such clients as the U.S. Army, Lysol, IBM, Molson Beer, Panasonic, Lexmark, Heineken and Pepsi. The appointment of Dunn is part an ongoing effort by South Carolina’s largest full-service advertising and marketing firm to attract top talent from outside the region, according to Erwin-Penland Executive Creative Director Andy Mendelsohn. “We’re always on the lookout for talented, experienced professionals with major brand work on their resumes,” said Mendelsohn, who himself left New York for the warmth and southern hospitality of South Carolina in 2000. “Karl adds further depth, expertise and perspective to our talented creative team, and his work will further raise the creative bar for our entire agency.”
Dunn Joins EP – add one
Dunn will oversee all creative work for an account group that includes Verizon Wireless, for which EP serves as retail agency of record in the southern U.S., as well as regional restaurant chain Fatz Cafe and the Greenville Drive minor league baseball team. “I’m really excited to be joining an agency like Erwin-Penland that is rich creatively and culturally,” said Dunn. “The opportunity to continue to do top-caliber work in a vibrant but very livable city like Greenville is extremely appealing.” A University of Texas graduate, Dunn began his career as a copywriter at Young & Rubicam, where he worked on such accounts as TWA and People magazine. He spent seven years at Lintas working with clients like Lipton and Johnson & Johnson, then served as creative director at Warwick Baker O’Neill, where clients included Panasonic and Knorr Foods. Dunn also served as creative director at Oceangroup, working with such accounts as Lexmark printers and retailer Carpet One, before his most recent stint as creative director/producer at Everett Studios.
