Summer Internship Program
SUMMER INTERNSHIP 2010 UPDATE!!!
This summer, eight lucky college students will have the opportunity to see what really goes on at an ad agency. By working in one. It’s a win-win.
But if you’re looking for a coffee-getting, paper-filing, thoughtless resume builder, try again my friend. We’re going to make you think. And discuss your thoughts. And present them. And new this year-- it will be a paid internship!
The Internship Program runs from June 7, 2010, to July 23, 2010. So you’ll still have plenty of time to hit the beach before classes start.
How it works:
You’ll be assigned specific projects and responsibilities within all agency disciplines and teams, and you’ll have a mentor who will be your advisor and supervisor. You’ll work together with other interns on an eight-week long project for one of Erwin-Penland’s clients, and you’ll present your findings to the entire agency. You’ll get opportunities to attend client meetings, vendor meetings, employee meetings, meetings about upcoming meetings and impromptu meetings. And yes, you’ll even get to schedule meetings.
At the end of the eight weeks, we’ll tell you how you did and you’ll tell us what you thought about the whole experience. And while the rest of your classmates are folding jeans at the Gap all summer, you’ll go back to school with something relevant to add to the “Experience” section of your resume.
Who we’re looking for:
Rising Juniors or Seniors with at least two years of college coursework who are majoring in some discipline of advertising (communications, marketing, media, art, design, copywriting, etc.). There’s no specific GPA cut-off or test score we’re looking for. But we like smart people. And we want people who want to work in the advertising field.
How to apply:
Upload a zip file that includes your cover letter, resume and essay using the form to the right. Since we get a lot of applicants, we’ve decided to include an essay requirement this year. Choose one of the following questions and answer it. There’s no length requirement. Just tell us what you think. If we like what we see, we’ll be in touch. Online applications strongly encouraged.
1. Why do you want to work in advertising?
2. If you were a brand, which brand would you be?
3. What’s your favorite commercial? Why?
4. If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?
5. Why did you choose your major?
6. How can you contribute in a positive way to Erwin-Penland?

Applications accepted: January 11, 2010 – March 19, 2010
